The Food Bank welcomes donations of both food and money. But because of the Food Bank’s access to bulk purchasing, monetary donations can be stretched much farther than food donations. Giving money not only allows the Food Bank to purchase roughly seven times more food than you could if you just went to the store, it also saves them a great deal of time and resources in terms of sorting all the food.
For the 2009 holiday season, the Food Bank is soliciting donations via a Virtual Food Drive. Their goal is to raise $200,000 in donations by the end of the year, and they are currently at $53,379. Let’s have the Blogoaksphere help them out!
